Report Details Sabotage of Birth Control

Men who abuse women physically and emotionally may also sabotage their partners’ birth control, pressuring them to become pregnant against their will, new reports suggest.
Several small studies have described this kind of coercion among low-income teenagers and young adults with a history of violence by intimate partners. Now, a report being released Tuesday by the federally financed National Domestic Violence Hotline says 1 in 4 women who agreed to answer questions after calling the hot line said a partner had pressured them to become pregnant, told them not to use contraceptives, or forced them to have unprotected sex.

Behaviors My Parents Taught Me

    

     We always learn many kinds of behaviors from our parents. There were theree most important kinds of behaviors that my parents taught me--to abide by laws/rules, be honest, and respect people.

     First, my parents taught me there were many law/rules in the social. We needed to abide by them, because we couldn't action without the rules. My parents always told me why we needed to abide the rules such as traffic rules or etiquettes of eating the meal. Certainly, they also abided by these laws/rules.

     Second, the honest was another behavior my parents taught me. When i was a child, i told a lie to refrain from some punishments sometime. Nevertheless, my parents always gave me more serious punishments when they knew i told a lie. They taught me the worst thing wasn't i do something wrong, that was i try to cover the mistake by the lie. When I told a lie, and then I need another bigger lie to cover the first lie.

     Third, my parents taught me how to respect people. Actually, they didn't tell me in words, they taught me that by their behaviors. We lived with my grandfather for twenty years, my mother respect him much. Everyday, my mother got up earlier than my grandfather, and cooked breakfast for him. My parents always smiled, listened what he said, and helped what he did, even they were forty years old. In other hand, my parents also respected teachers. They always asked my follow what the teachers said. When teacher needed them to finish some requirements, they always did their best.

     In short, my parents is my most important models to learn the behaviors that how we live in the social. I will teach my children the good behaviors that my parents taught me.

The advise of the Letter 2

Dear Parents
     If I were you, I will do something before I lecture her. I will talk to my daughter's teacher first, because I need to know her behaviors in other place. Also, I will ask the teacher to pay attention to her. Even I can follow her to take note of her action. If it is true-someone often gives her the gift, I will thank him/her, and ask him/her not to give the gift for nothing. If she tell a lie, I will ask her tell the truth by herself and don't try to make up the excuse again. At the last, I will let her help to do some housework for a week after she knows it's wrong.

The Chinese New Year

     The Chinese New Year is the most important holiday in China and Taiwan. There are totally 16 days, but we celebrate most in the first day to the third day, sixthday and the last day.
     The first day is the last day of the year in lunar calendar, we clean the house and then cook big meal. All family members eat dinner together tonight. The second day, we go to the temple to thank god that it let us peace and happy. After this, we go to relatives' and friends' house to give them the presents and talk about what happened last year. Next, the daughters in law go back their original family with their hunsband on the third day, they can't go back their orighinal familly before this day. Then, the sixthday is the best day to start the business in the new year, everyone goes back their conpany to turn on the light in the office, start the car and pray everything will be successful in this year. At the last day of the Chinese New Year, all Chinese eat rice balls in the morning, and every child takes lantern which is made of the paper and goes outside to try to find something good in the night. At the last of the last day, we will play the fireworks in midnight to celebarate the end of the Chinese New Year.
     In short, The Chinese New Year is the most important days of all Chinese, we wish we can have another peace and successful year via these celebrate activities.

My Brother's Baby

My Brother's Baby

     My brother got married last October, and he will be a father this September. This is the first grand baby in my family, my parents are very happy, so am I. There are something we will do for celebrate the new baby.
     First, we protect my brother's wife as we can. We help her do housekeep we can do such as move something heavy, cut something during this ten month of her pregnant. My mother also cooks many tonics for her, because we believe a strong baby comes from a health mother. Second, we will buy many gifts before she gives birth to the baby such as many clothes from baby's to children's, some stuffs help her feed the baby, even though we don't know the sex of the baby yet. Also, we will buy the gift to the mother to thank her; I plan to buy the necklace and bracelet to my brother's wife. In addition, we will have a celebrate party after one month of the baby's birthday; we will invite all friends and family members to come to our house. This is the first time that baby show up with everyone, so the baby needs to stay in the room before this party. Everyone will give the baby gift such as gold or money, and we will feedback everyone traditional food--oily rice. If the sex of baby is male, we will give everyone two more eggs.
    In short, we are very happy that we will have a new member in our family. We hope both the mother and baby are healthy and happy.

The Family Today

  

There are three family types has been changed in United States. The first family type is two-career family--both father and mother have job and support the economic of the family. They share every kind of outlay like cleaning or child care. The second and third family type both cause the high divorce rate-single-parent families and stepfamilies. The single-parent families mean only father or mother with the child. Most of these families' economic status are worse than normal families, because the single-parent families only have one income, and the parent need make money and takes care the child at the same time. The stepfamilies mean the divorce men or women get married with another divorce women or men, and they may have child with the ex-wife or husband. It makes complex social status and problem.

     Compared the families status whit Taiwan and Unite States, the biggest different is in single-parent families and stepfamilies. Ten years ago, the divorce rate in Taiwan was lower than in Unite States. There were not too many single-parent families. If someone chose to be a single-parent family, he or she must had strong economic ability. If their economic ability was not strong enough, they wouldn't divorce until their children independence. Also, we almost had no stepfamilies, because the people who divorced were hard to get married again, especially when they had child. However, there has been a significant increase in divorce rate of Taiwan in least ten years; the single-parent families have become more and more common. The single-parents has increased greatly, most of them are good in economic. On other hand, the stepfamilies are still unusual in my country, because most of single-parent families don’t want to get another the same family.
        In conclusion, there are huge different between Unite States and Taiwan, we can learn much about family status from US and try to decrease the social problem about different family status.
